I'm not partial to anti-[enter candidate name here] diaries. As an Obama supporter I much prefer pro-[enter candidate name here] type diaries. But I have to speak to this issue...about what Hillary said today in Florida.
I want the Florida / Michigan vote debacle solved just like everyone else but not in a "end justify the means" way.
Politico
....Those people, she said "refused to accept their assigned place as second-class citizens. Men and women who saw America not as it was, but as it could and should be, and committed themselves to extending the frontiers of our democracy. The abolitionists and all who fought to end slavery and ensure freedom came with the full right of citizenship. The tenacious women and a few brave men who gathered at the Seneca Falls convention back in 1848 to demand the right to vote."
Hillary used the atrocity of slavery and the civil rights area, just like Bush used the atrocity of the Holocaust......to make point. As I said before I want some sort of solution to seating the delegates. But to equate the plight of voters in Florida, and Michigan, with the plight of african americans during slavery and the civil rights area is beyond the pale. The photo to the left is of a black man who was lynched and set a flame while he hung. For what I don't know, but back then you didn't need a reason.
Hillary's statement can only be true if the following criteria list (although not complete) is met:
- a Florida/Michigan voter fingers are cut off for trying to vote, like african american's were when they were sneaking around trying to learn how to read during slavery
- a Florida/Michigan female voter is sexual abused because she is considered property
- a Florida / Michigan voter is beaten with whips
- a Florida / Michigan voter is made to change their name, like african were made to do
- a Florida / Michigan voter is hung from tree, or castrated and hung from a tree, or castrated, set a flame, and hung from a tree
- a Florida / Michigan voter is spit on, made to drink from a separate water fountain, or have dogs maul them while participating in civil disobedience
I wish people would stop using the Holocaust, or slavery, to make asinine points, or jokes for that matter.
